As you know we are part of the way through our Non Fiction Controlled Assessment. We will be completing the layout and presentation section of the essay next lesson. To ensure you are confident in this section I would like you to complete the tasks below.
Task 1 - Revision (15 mins)
Look at the list of non-fiction reading revision websites outlined in the learning links tab on this blog.
Task 2 - PEE Paragraphing Website
1. Chooses a website of your choice.
2. Read the full home page and look closely at the images, colour, and general presentation and layout.
3. Choose one presentational feature of the website that you want to write a PEE paragraph about.
4. Write a PEE paragraph in the comments section under this post. Ensure you paste the website address in the comment too so I can see what website you were analysing. Point - keep it simple, state what you are picking out to analyse. Evidence - describe there presentational feature you have closed in more detail, location, size, detail of the presentational feature. Explain - explain the why the writer chose to present that particular presentational feature in that way. Example a the impact on the reader, connotations - what might it make the reader think of. Then post your comment
5. Pick another text to repeat the above process with. It can be a newspaper / magazine article, website, print advert, leaflet etc...
6. Your comments may not appear straight away but I will try and approve them as soon as I can from here.
Anyone who is in school and does not post a comment will be sitting with me during Monday lunch time to complete this task.
Enjoy your lesson Y10 and I miss you all already!

(Vue)http://www.myvue.com/ i was annylising the title and how they have made the colour boarder. when you first go on to the site the vue sighn is big and in bold (VUE) it is orange and has loads of funky letters. which to me it sais there selling there brand and company to the audience. the boarder is the same colour until after 3 minutes it changes colour which matches the titles again to me the boarder and the title are to do with the films being shown, and go with the theme of them.
ReplyDeletewhen u first click on the bbc website the banner was bold and simple to stand out .the layout is red so it mean they mean bussiness.after i clicked on a hyperlink and then it cahnged to colour to black which is simple
ReplyDeletein the guardian there are a variety of pictures and the one that stand out the most is a big picture of police man.this picture is of a group of police mans holding guns this picture atracts your eye because of the fear we gain when we see police mans or danger. the writer has chosen to pick this picture because when we see a picture of a police man holding a gun we get the fear of death.http://www.guardian.co.uk/
ReplyDeletehttp://www.riddlesdown.org/ In the riddlesdown website they use moving pictures to show of the schools good points. In a moving slide show of pictures, they have photos with captions saying things like "Relaxing enviroment" & "Fantastic facilities". They do this to make parents want to send their to the school because it shows the school as being very welcoming and a nice play to go to school. the reader would feel like this would be an ideal school to go to because it shows everything that someone would need in a school.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the homepage of http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ The bbc webpage uses the colours red, black, blue and white. The red is used to higlight the important bits and also as the banner for the website. They have used blue for the sub-titles of different news stories. On the website the top main stories are listed at the top of the website and there is a section for the latest news.
ReplyDeleteOn the Website 'BBC News' The writing on the website for the title is white and its big and bold so the audience can read it clearly and its on a red background so you can also read it clearly. It uses connatation because the red makes you think of blood and evil and the whit is just a plain colour. All the subheading are a dark blue so you can tell there subheadings and all the writing is in black it uses connatation because the black makes us think of a dark sky and space. The subheading are also big and bold so you can also tell there the subheading and there the main head lines.
ReplyDeletein the mirros news paper there are a veriety of pictures and the one that pops up the most is a banner of pictures switching for 4 different pictures the pictures are of the most famouse shows in the uk .the writer has chosen to use this because
ReplyDeleteIn the 'Guardian'website the use of colour was used in the hyperlinks to show that they can be accessed and this allows the reader to know. They use colours in the imagery to bring out the colour of the picture, this allows the reader to get a clearer understanding of the picture. They use colours in there title of the webpage theu have changed the colour of the first word 'The' and the last word of the title is changed as well to be a different colour 'Guardian', this is eye catcing to the audience reading the webpage this will allow the reader to no what page they are on. This has an imapct on the reader because it allows the reader to have a quick understanding of the page and what its about by having words highlighted in colour this will make it more attractive for for reader and grab there attention.
